RSMSC competes at DBWV Shootout - GU10 finish 2nd
Over the weekend three RSMSC teams competed in the 10th annual DBWV Shootout. The RSMSC gu10, gu11 and bu11 teams just coming out of the winter break played this event just before spring training begins. The weather gray all weekend impacted games but players had every opportunity to overcome and show their hard work and great attitudes over the course of the weekend.
The GU10 team for the second time this season found themselves in the Championship Game, just a few hours after playing the Stars to a 0-0 draw they were matched again with the same team just hours later in the final. Earlier in the weekend RSMSC gu10 did not suffer a single defeat and only had conceded one goal, going into the final. The final was wet-muddy and the opportunity to play soccer was lost but the girls battled and suffered a loss to a team who will be promoted to silver in the fall, the game was PPD with ten minutes remaining as the rain took a toll on the fields and the players. At the end of the day a second tournament medal (PSA champion) and a second round appearance in league cup saw the gu10 have an overall successful first season.
The GU11 team ended up going 1-1-1 over the course of the tournament with a good first game against a team who will be promoted to silver in the fall and a tie with Chelsea 1-1 on a second half goal by RSMSC and a third game which RSMSC was prepared to play was scored 1-0 to RSMSC after a forfeit was put in place, the gu11 will now prepare for the upcoming spring season. As the BU11 team after the weekend was a goal short in each of their games their spring preparation will also begin next week.
