RSMSC completes season with YOUNGERS success at State/National Cup

Over the past month five of the U13 and younger teams competed in the 2008 CalSouth State/National Cup event.  The success was immediate with 3/5 teams winning their groups (BU10 – GU12 and GU13) and advancing to the second round, with all three continuing into the round of 32.  From there the GU12 team was the group to contend with advancing all the way into the round of 16 only to fall a bit short losing (3-2 on pk’s), the game was one of those where in six games they only had allowed one goal and that was in the first half of the round of 16 game but they wouldn’t let down and came out of the half the better team to equalize with a class goal to put the score level, from there the CSC AAA team from SD,CA was on their heels for the next 40m but a goal did not come and pk’s were in the balance, RSMSC winning the previous round on pk’s just fell short on this afternoon but was the sleeper of the event by advancing all the way through pool play and through the elimination rounds, which left the girls wanting more and a motivation that will stay with them through next year.  The BU10 also advancing by winning out within their group and into the elimination rounds where they met the #1 seed Nomads from SD,CA – the game was back and forth and was a continuation of their efforts all season winning the Copa Del Mar, undefeated with CSL league season at 13-0-1 and advancing to the elimination rounds in league and state/national cup.  The GU13 team started the year high and mighty finishing second at the Irvine Memorial Classic, 2nd at the RSM Cup, WINNING the PSA tournament and battling all league long into the second rounds of league and state/national cup, finishing the year on a high note.

RSMSC has seen its constant dedication to the club – community and player development philosophy where not only is the image of what all of the youth players represent as a family but the results on the field have come as well.  With such a young organization growth through progression has began to show dividends and with the announcement of a more complete and quality player pool with the merger of SC Storm this winter will prove to allow more teams and players to build off of the success built this past season.  Positive growth will continue to make RSM Storm Soccer Club a mainstay within the South Orange County communities…
