RSMSC Competes on ALL levels – Bu10 win Copa Del Mar
An exciting weekend of soccer for the players – their families and the technical staff, as RSMSC participated in the first club travel event. The Copa Del Mar provided the first opportunity for RSMSC to showcase its 2007-08 teams on an away trip in San Diego, CA against some of the best teams in Southern California, Arizona and beyond, Copa Del Mar traditionally one of the tougher events as it is partnered with the Surf Cup Invitation Showcase and teams not invited to participate there are offered spots at Copa Del Mar. As RSMSC continues to grow under the new club direction, enlisted a year ago, RSMSC impressed the Copa Del Mar and surpassed many top clubs with RSMSC coming out on top. The club as a whole had 9/11 teams participating on the weekend, all 11 teams would of participated but their were no b/gu15 brackets. Therefore the 9 teams that did participate showed they are ready to take on the next step. The off-season training and match progression has paid off, 6/9 teams finished with winning records, RSMSC saw 16 club victories on the weekend, while the bu9-gu12-gu13 finishing in the top two of their groups and/or just missing out on the finals, with the highlight coming from the Bu10 team winning the Copa Del Mar culminating the summer tournament swing by winning the 4rd trophy of the summer for the club (previous two cup wins were the Gu10-Gu13 at the 07’ PSA Cup) also the (Gu13 placing 2nd in the Irvine memorial day tournament/ 2-4 lose on pk’s in the final).
RSMSC Bu10 team was the highlight of the weekend going 4-0, scoring 16 goals for, with 9 different goal scorers, 3 shutouts and only conceding once, the bu10 team defeated Del Mar Sharks GOLD, West Coast BLUE, Carlsbad Lighting and West Coast in the finals. Overall a successful season for a group of boys who have had their heart set on a performance like this all summer. Congrats to each of them on such a dominating performance leading into the CSL season.
As for all of our teams the RSMSC family as a club-teams-players continues to grow, develop and impress some of the top area clubs in the south, the continued support of our dedicated players and their families allows our top technical staff to coach-develop and embrace the game of soccer on and off the field. As we now prepare the next month for the upcoming league season we wish all of our teams the best going forward.
