6/16/08  RSM Storm Finishes Strong at 3rd ANNUAL RSM CUP…

RSM, CA as this past weekend concluded the 3rd Annual RSM CUP finished 21 different clubs winning each of the 21 different brackets.  With the largest field in event history 150 teams, the level of competition, single venues for all teams of quality surfaces and better weather proved to be successful for the 2200+ youth players who participated on the weekend.  A special thanks to all of our sponsors ADIDAS, Hilton Hotels and resorts, POWER Toyota, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, SoccerUSA, LA Galaxy.  Another successful weekend for RSM Storm Soccer club as well as our teams had an overall more collective success than ever at our 3rd annual event.  With the increase in teams, quality and continued progress and improvement with the RSM Cup, each of our teams challenged some of the best competitive teams which puts us on pace to improve our club, our teams collectively and our players individually, here are some of the successes from the weekend...

bu9> 3rd place overall
bu10> 3rd place overall, played in the semi's and only lost to eventual tournament champs
bu11> won their group, played in the semi's and only gave up one goal to eventual tournament champs
bu12> finished 3rd overall
bu16> finished 2nd overall and only lost in the final game

gu11> finished 3rd overall
gu13> was the only RSM team not to suffer loss (2-0-2), finished third overall missed the finals on a goal difference tiebreaker
gu16> won their group, lost in the semi's and finished 3rd overall

(other team’s gu9 played in their first event as RSM team and showed improvement throughout the weekend, gu12 also played in their first event together, bu14 played up a year due to bracketing and competed in each and every game and gu14 won on the final day to finish on a positive note)

DOC- Technical Director Shaun Harris replied this is a building weekend to evaluate our progress and prepare our players for the upcoming summer calendar leading into the summer.  Our overall goal is to develop players, where they show team success within the way they play collectively and their individual progress.”  He added all of our coaches have continued to follow the vision of our club and develop players to compete-develop and enjoy the game of soccer, hosting an event close to our community is a special part of the year for all of our families.”  We thank everyone for their participation and we congratulate the 21 team champions from the weekend, catch the 09’ RSM Cup Fathers Day weekend 2009.

Best of luck to all the rest of the summer and building toward the upcoming league season…
